grab a pen

One of the things you'll quickly notice with an international adoption is that you'll be filling out tons of forms and signing your name...A LOT!
The problem is, you can't use just any pen.
It needs to be a blue pen.
Most countries require you to use blue ink when signing your dossier documents so that they can tell the document is authentic.
But in the U.S. most people just don't use blue pens anymore.
So do yourself a big favor and buy a blue pen.
Actually, buy a handful of them and keep them in your purse, bag, car, desk, etc., and take them with you when you're getting a dossier document filled out, signed and notorized.
It will not only save you headaches, it will also save you time.

Interesting because I used black for mine. Never ever heard the blue analogy before.

Wow! I didn't know that. I don't know what color I used.....

Have not ever heard this from Russia, and I'm on my 9th dossier for them. I have heard that it isn't uncommon for the 'officials' to turn the paper over to see if the signature is authentic (you can generally see an indentation from the pressure of the signature), even heard of one document being held up to the light - not sure what purpose that had...

Hmmm....
We've done four dossiers...three for Russia and one for Ukraine and each time the agency required us to use blue, for the reason I mentioned in the article.
I'll do some more research and see what I can come up with.
